There are several rumours floating around at the moment regarding the government's choice of secondhand trams to fill the gap while the next batch of Flexity Classics arrives from Bombardier.

The current rumours are:
UV Class trams from Budapest, Hungary (seems to be the most popular)
a series of 80s trams from Hannover, Germany

The Hannover one seems most viable to me as the UVs would have to ship out of Hamburg anyway (as the major seaport for Europe).

Post here with anything else you may have heard.

I doubt that the UVs would draw much more power from the overhead as the rebuilt H class that TA still have on the books. While they may not be DDA compliant, they would be withdrawn from service by the time that 100% DDA compliance on all public transport in this state is a requirement. These would only be a stop gap measure to cover a short term shortage in a similar vain to the Melbourne C2 class on loan from Mulhouse. These trams are also readily available for purchase/lease service.
